County Prep Students Visit Pequest Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center

Two groups of County Prep students from the Aquaculture/Hydroponics classes attended a fishing trip to the Pequest Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center in Oxford, NJ. Students received instruction regarding safe fishing and practiced their casting on the lawn before heading to the education pond. According to hatchery protocol, the students were allowed to keep one caught fish. Thirty-eight students attended the fishing trip; they brought home 31 fish to be cooked while three students decided to release their catch. County Prep students put into practice a well- known proverb of uncertain origin:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
